Toronto–Health Canada has approved a new proprietary medicated dental coating called Prevora Stage 1 from Toronto-based CHX Technologies Inc. This medication is for the Canadian dental professional’s use in reducing tooth decay at root surfaces. Prevora Stage 1 is a prescription drug available only from Canadian dental offices. Tooth root decay is the most common and rapidly growing form of tooth decay in Canadian adults, affecting more than 40% of Canadians over age 60, and more than half of those over age 70. CHX Technologies expects to start supplying Prevora Stage 1 to Canadian dental offices in spring 2005. The company expects that many comprehensive group dental plans will cover this new procedure.
