World’s Largest Dental Fair Expands Space

Cologne–IDS, the International Dental Show, April 12th to 16th, 2005 in Cologne, has set its course for a growth-orientated fair. In addition to well-known Halls 13 and 14, the world’s largest and most comprehensive leading international trade fair for dental medicine and dental technology will also occupy Hall 10. IDS 2003 boasted a record number of 63,000 trade visitors from 134 countries.

The first day of the fair, 12th April, is reserved for the specialist dental trade.

Prof Cited for Stimulating Abilities

Toronto–University of Toronto Professor Dorothy McComb is this year’s winner of the 3M ESPE National Dentistry Teaching Award, recognizing exceptional contributions to dental education. She received the award at the Association of Canadian Faculties of Dentistry annual general meeting.

All Good, No Evil for Georgia Dentist

Savannah, GA–Dr. Brad Durham, a Savannah-based aesthetic neuromuscular dentist, is the first in the United States to receive the degree of ‘Mastership in Aesthetic Neuromuscular Dentistry’. He was recently awarded the designation from the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. This is the highest distinction available in the area of Aesthetic Neuromuscular Dentistry.

DIAC Names Names…

Toronto-Guylaine McCallum is the newly elected president of the Dental Industry Association of Canada. She is vice-president of Sales and Marketing for both Septodont of Canada, Inc., and Novocol Pharmaceutical of Canada, Inc.

Most recently, McCallum was vice-president of DIAC, responsible for the Regulatory Affairs portfolio.

… And so Does AACD…

Madison, WI–Lawrence Addleson, DDS, was elected president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry at the organization’s 20th annual scientific session in Vancouver, BC. Founded in 1984, the AACD has more than 6,000 members around the world.

DCF Celebrates Smiles

Toronto–Dentistry Canada Fund (DCF), the charity for oral health in Canada, held its Celebrating Smiles Gala at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto in May. The event was a great success and featured entertainment, a silent and live auction, the announcement of SciCan’s $250,000 donation pledge–payable over four years, and the presentation of DCF’s Service and Philanthropy Awards (see photo above).
