Highlights from the Chicago MidWinter Dental Meeting

The 142nd Chicago MidWinter Dental Meeting was a great Success!

With over 33, 700 in total attendance, including almost 7,800 dentists and 9,485 exhibitors, the exhibit hall and lecture rooms were busy!

There was lots to see and check out. Here are just a few highlights from the Meeting:

Kuraray Dental announced the Clearfil Majesty Series, a comprehensive, curative system of resins designed for the specific purpose of restoring a natural radiance and whitening to teeth. The Series includes Majesty Esthetic, a universal composite; Majesty Flowable, a resin that possess significant compressive and tensile strength; and Majesty Posterior, a newly developed nano-hybrid with the physical characteristics of most indirect composite restorative materials. According to the company, all three composites provide sturdy, effective and aesthetic restorations.

Zhermack was busy at their booth with a number of product launches and special promotions. At the meeting, they launched their Acrytemp fluorescent temporary crown and bridge material; they also introduced Elite Rock die stone for crown, bridge and implant fabrication and Alghamix, an ergonomically designed and easy-to-use multifunctional materials mixer.

DentalEZ Group also used the Midwinter Meeting to introduce a number of new products, including: new CustomAir Water Ring Pumps; a new line of more than 50 carbide burs under the name of Nouveau Carbide burs; a new lubricated line of StarDental high-speed handpieces with new lubricated versions of the Solara and 430 Series handpieces; and customizable HiLo Master Set and Master Set Plus handpiece kits.

DaVinci Dental Studios had some interesting news. To complement the commitment and investment patients make with dental restorations, da Vinci is now offering a full line of health and beauty products, including anti-wrinkle cream, eye serum and lip plumper. In addition, they will be offering a line of oral care products, including a teeth whitening pen and other products to come. Daniel Materdomini, founder of da Vinci, wants to help patients take their appearance to the next level and enhance their smiles even more.

Hu Friedy , already known for their dental instruments, launched a new endodontic products company called EI (Endo Ingenuity) and its first product, an obturation device called DownPak, at the meeting. DownPak is described by the company as a cordless obturation device with the ability to deliver both heat and vibration to condense filling materials. According to the company, this exclusive, dual-energy combination improves efficacy and efficiency, making obturation technique more predictable.

This is just a small sampling of a few of the new products that were on display. Many other companies, including Ivoclar, Nobel Biocare, Ultreo, and many others, had exciting new products and services on display. It all goes to show that the field of dentistry continues to offer product innovation at a high level, with new improvements and developments continually coming on board.
