IDS Preliminary Report – 34th International Dental Show – 2011 in Cologne, Germany

From March 22-26, 2011,  IDS will open its gates again in Cologne, Germany. The organizer projects 1,800 suppliers from 56 countries presenting a broad range of product innovations and services. Due to increased space demands, hall 2 will join Halls 3,4,10 and 11 – most of them are multi level buildings.

IDS can be accessed via three entrances in the South, East and West ensuring even traffic flow around the fairground. Show management expects to attract again close to 100,000 attendees which attended the event in 2009. IDS  is widely considered to be the world’s leading fair for the dental industry based on exhibitor, occupied space, international share and attendee numbers.” 

65% of the exhibitors will be from non German countries. IDS will host a total of 14 group participations from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Japan, Israel, Italy, South Korea, Pakistan, Russia, Spain, Taiwan and the US. 185 companies will show their products for the first time.

Value added Supporting program The specialist supporting  program will contain again a “Speaker’s Corner” area in Hall 3.1 where IDS exhibitors will  present the latest results in science and research related to their products and services on all show days. The first show day, March 22, will be reserved for Dealers providing  the opportunity to conduct undisturbed sales negotiations in the corresponding atmosphere. 

In addition, the German Dental Association and the Association of German Dental Technicians’ Guilds  will organize the 6th dentechnica Forum recognizing the importance of dental technicians. March 24 will see the prestigious “Gysi Prize Award” recognizing the winners in an official ceremony. This renowned talent competition awards the best dentistry works submitted by trainees in the dental technicians trade. The works will be on  display during all show days in Halls 10 and 11.

To enhance efficiency in navigating the halls, the organizer will offer free of charge apps for iPhone, Backberry and other operating systems containing show directory listing and floor plan, catering options and information on the supporting program. Prior to IDS attendees and exhibitors can start communicating via Business-Matchmaking features offered on the IDS website.  Attendees can requests meetings via e-mail using an online route planner for optimal navigation through the halls. Picture materials of IDS will be posted on “flickr” on a separate IDS account. 

Pre-registration is open in December 2010. The entrance tickets are also valid for the use of public transportation such as buses, trains and trams. IDS has teamed up with Lufthansa offering airline discounts to IDS attendees from 250 cities in 100 countries. The German Railway will offer IDS attendees reduced fares. IDS (International Dental Show) takes place in Cologne every two years and is organized by the GFDI – Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Dental-Industrie mbH, the commercial enterprise of the Association of German Dental Manufacturers (VDDI), and staged by Koelnmesse GmbH, Cologne.
