Almost one in five smartphone owners use check-in services such as Facebook Places, Foursquare and Gowalla on their mobile device in the US said market researcher comScore in a recent study on mobile check-in services.
“Although still in their relative infancy,location-based mobile check-in services are seeing rather impressive adoption among smartphone users,” said Mark Donovan, comScore senior vice president of mobile.
Three out of every four check-ins recorded in March 2011 came from a smartphone.
12.7 million people, or 17.6 percent of the entire smartphone population in the US, checked in using their mobile device during the month.
