
Envista, Henry Schein and Dentsply Sirona are among 600 U.S.-based companies recognized by Newsweek for their positive global impact.
Citing “climate change and wage inequality” as key global concerns, Newsweek partnered with Statista to rank the 2,000 largest publicly traded companies based on their performance across environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) pillars, explained Newsweek‘s global editor-in-chief, Nancy Cooper.
“The analysis is based on data from 30 key performance indicators, such as energy usage and charitable donations, as well as a reputation survey of more than 26,000 U.S. consumers,” Cooper said.
The ranking of America’s Most Responsible Companies 2025, now in its sixth year, named healthcare company Merck as the top performer for the second year in a row, with an overall score of 97.83—up from 91.98 last year. “Other notable names on this year’s list include Adobe, PayPal and HP,” Cooper added.
Among the top-ranking oral health companies were the following:
1. Colgate-Palmolive – Score: 85.91
Headquartered in New York City, Colgate-Palmolive received an overall score of 85.91, with a 94.71 score on environmental concerns and 86.69 on social concerns.
Since 2002–2003, the company has disclosed CO₂ data as an early responder to Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). In 2023, it was named a U.S. EPA ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year for the 13th consecutive year and received a Leadership score of A- on both the CDP Water Security and Climate Change lists.
Colgate-Palmolive was also recognized in 2024 by Ethisphere as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies for the 14th consecutive year and named one of America’s Most JUST Companies by JUST Capital, reflecting its commitment to employees, customers, communities, shareholders and the environment. 2. Henry Schein – Score: 73.99
Headquartered in Melville, N.Y., Henry Schein is a global distributor of medical and dental supplies, including vaccines, pharmaceuticals, financial services and equipment. The company scored 76.51 on social concerns and 60.64 on environmental issues.
Last year, Henry Schein was named to Fortune magazine’s “Change the World” list for the fourth time. The ranking highlights companies with a positive social impact through their core business strategies. Henry Schein was recognized for its emergency preparedness and response strategy supporting health-care professionals and communities worldwide.
The company and the Henry Schein Cares Foundation also launched a 2024 Relief Fund to support those affected by flooding in Brazil.
3. Envista – Score: 72.45
Based in Brea, Calif., Envista scored 85.31 on environmental issues and 62.80 on social concerns. The company owns more than 30 dental brands, including Nobel Biocare, Ormco, DEXIS and Kerr.
In its 2023 sustainability report, Envista reported a 26 per cent year-over-year reduction in absolute Scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions, and a 3.5 per cent decrease in total Scope 1 and 2 emissions on an intensity basis. The company also donated nearly $1.3 million through the Envista Smile Project to support mission trips, education, and non-profit organizations focused on oral health.

4. Dentsply Sirona – Score: 69.21
Headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., Dentsply Sirona scored 80.15 on environmental and 57.65 on social metrics.

It underscores our long-standing commitment to improve access to oral healthcare globally and to create healthy smiles,” said Andrea Frohning, senior vice-president and chief human resources officer at Dentsply Sirona. “In that spirit, we joined our long-standing partners, the Amazon Doctors, to open the first dental digital clinic in an indigenous village located inside of Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, in Bertioga city, Sao Paulo.”
In partnership with Amazon Doctors, a non-profit that provides care to riverside and Indigenous communities in the Amazon, Dentsply Sirona helped open the clinic in Bertioga to help 1,000 people access dental care.
Built in a 70-square-metre space and operated by Amazon Doctors, the clinic is equipped with technology and supplies donated by Dentsply Sirona, including a Primescan AC and Sinius dental chair. It can accommodate up to 40 appointments per week across specialties such as restorative dentistry, endodontics and prosthetics, using intraoral scanners, digital impressions and computer-assisted tools for diagnostics and treatment planning.
