The why: Background story
In the heart of Sherwood Park, a growing suburb of Edmonton, Alberta, a high-tech dental practice with style and soul has recently opened. Olive & Ivory Dental Studio is the creation of Dr. Jehan Nanji and her husband, Aly Remtulla. Their story began in the hallways of elementary school, where two childhood friends naturally grew closer over time, eventually getting married and becoming entrepreneurial partners. Having grown up in Sherwood Park, their deep roots in the community fueled a shared desire to cultivate a dental experience with warmth, precision, and thoughtful design. Dr. Nanji’s passion for cosmetic dentistry was shaped by her own dental health experiences growing up, as well as by a desire to help others feel confident with their smiles and comfortable in their dental care setting. Husband Aly has a background in commerce and finance. He enjoys leading the financial and business operations of the practice, bringing structure, strategy, and operational planning to their growing brand. Together they have created a wonderful destination for dental healthcare.
The how: Strategic project planning
In March 2022, they heard about a new medical building in development just five minutes from their home. The moment they saw it, they knew it was the perfect fit. The ground-floor corner unit offered abundant natural light, excellent visibility, and the kind of welcoming presence they envisioned. By September 2024, they took possession of the 3,315 sq/ft space and began construction. Their design philosophy focused on function, flow, and a luxury patient experience. The clinic includes eight operatories and a private consultation room at the front of the office, which is also used as a neuromodulator treatment room—perfect for those seeking smoother, rejuvenated skin in a discrete, comfortable setting. In a playful, elegant twist, the room is hidden behind bookshelf-style double doors, adding a touch of whimsy to the space. It’s one of many thoughtful details that make the office feel personal and unforgettable.
The results: Technical design features
The name Olive & Ivory wasn’t just chosen for its aesthetic appeal. It reflects the practice’s deeper philosophy. The olive tree, known for its resilience and longevity, symbolizes the team’s belief that healthcare is a lifestyle journey rooted in strength and connection. Ivory, associated with both teeth and timeless elegance, represents the refined yet welcoming environment they’ve created. Stepping into the space feels like entering a serene boutique hotel or a lush garden retreat. Rich, deep greens, natural textures, abundant foliage, and warm lighting work together to create an inviting spa-like atmosphere. Every design detail was thoughtfully selected to spark joy, soothe the senses, and elevate the patient experience. It’s a calming restorative space where patient and team members alike can feel relaxed, recharged, and truly cared for.
The outcome: Practice success & community impact
At Olive & Ivory, healthy smiles, aesthetics, and innovation go hand in hand. With state-of-the-art technology and a future-ready mindset, the clinic was built not just to serve today’s patients but to grow with them. Since opening in February 2025, it has quickly become a standout in the community; not just for its design but for the heart behind it. The team they’re building reflects the same warmth and purpose as the space itself. They love supporting local business through gift card giveaways and unique collaborations, including plans for a boutique fashion show right in their hallways. Their vision also extends to the dental community, offering a space for study club, gatherings, and shared learning.
