The majority of dentists surveyed for Data Driven Dentistry have renovated their practice at least once in the last five years. It is great to see practice owners are aware of how important it is to consistently improve their space. Here are the most popular reasons we found dentists were renovating:

COVID-19 Protocols: A number of dentists decided to take advantage of the pandemic closure to make some upgrades to their practice or they felt it was needed to ensure they could efficiently follow the IPAC and sterilization guidelines that were set out during the pandemic.

Modernization: Many dentists recognized how their building or furniture was aging and in need of some updating to improve patient satisfaction and comfortability.

New Space: Some dentists reported doing renovations because they had opened a new location or bought a new space. Whenever a new space is acquired, upgrades should be done to ensure it is up to your standards and fits with your overall goals and branding for the business.

New Equipment: Sometimes it’s not just the aesthetics that need updating but the clinical equipment. With major technological advancement, upgrading old equipment ensure you are providing the best care possible for your visitors.

*In October and November 2022 Bramm Research, a third-party independent research house, con-ducted an online survey of active, practicing non-hospital affiliated dentists and dental specialists on behalf of Oral Health. Survey invitations went out to a contact list of approximately 9,000 readers and there were 251 completions, for a response rate of 2.8. With a total sample of 251, the margin of error is plus or minus 6.0 percentage points at the 95 percent confidence level. If, for example, 50% of the sample indicated that agreed with a statement, then we can be reasonably sure (19 times out of 20) of an accuracy within +/- 6.0%. This means that a total census would reveal an answer of not less than 44.0% and not more than 56.0%.
