College of Dentistry Concerned That Canada’s Dental Benefit Could Mean Fewer Patients for Dental Schools

While Canada’s dental benefit program has been helping families across the country, dental schools are growing concerned about their lack of patients.

Northeast Now recently reported that Dr. Walter Siquira from University of Saskatchewan College of Dentistry has shared that those taking advantage of the benefit seem to be going to private offices rather than dental school clinics and he believes this could negatively affect the students in the program. Dental procedures take more time at school clinics as it’s a training process, which often leads to people preferring to attend a private practice for quicker services.

Dr. Siquira believes the program will help Canadians overall, but hopes there will be plans in the future to ensure there will be benefits for dental students as well as patients.
