Health Canada has announced that the Canada Dental Benefit has now reached the milestone of helping 300,000 children have healthier smiles.
Children must have received dental care during the first benefit period, which is October 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023, to be eligible for the benefit. The second benefit period will begin July 1, 2023 and end June 30, 2024. Once again, families will receive $650 per child under 12 years old, to be used towards dental services.
The benefit plan will continue to expand at the end of 2023, when more than just children become eligible to receive the benefit. Health Canada predicts it will help up to nine million Canadians who have a household income less than $90,000.
