Lift Allowing Dental Patients to Remain in Wheelchair During Treatment is Game Changer

An Edmonton dental clinic is changing lives with potentially the only lift in the province that allows patients to remain in wheelchairs to receive treatment, CTV News Edmonton reported.

The lift, or the “diaco dental chair“, is designed to eliminate the need to transfer patients to a typical dental chair. Dr. Nibras Sharif is passionate about providing accessible care and knew she wanted to include the wheelchair-accessible dental chair when she opened her own practice.

The chair is “a fully mobile dental platform designed specifically for wheelchair patients. The patient remains in their own wheelchair at all times, eliminating manual handling and hoisting, whilst enabling the optimal angle for dental care treatment for both patient and clinical team,” according to diaco.
