Patients From Past Decade at ‘Unclean’ Pennsylvania Dentists Office Told to Get Tested

The Pennsylvania Department of Health today warned patients of a Mt Bethel dental office that they should get tested for HIV and hepatitis B and C, WFMZ reported.

The state had found that the business, Cotturo Dental Associates, failed to disinfect or sterilize devices which could have increased the risk of infection. Dental procedures would have included cleanings, implants and denture fittings.

The department is advising that any patients who had dental procedures at the facility between January 1, 2007, and September 14, 2018, to get tested. WFMZ reported the health department had sent a cease and desist order for the business to stop patient care on August 23.

Dr. Palmer Cotturo surrendered his license to the state on September 14, reported The Morning Call, a Pennsylvania daily newspaper. It noted the practice has since closed.
