The Dawson Academy, advanced dental continuing education provider, will start offering courses in Canada beginning January 2015.
The Academy’s first course offering in Canada will be January 16 & 17, 2015 in Toronto. The cornerstone of The Dawson Academy’s curriculum, “Functional Occlusion – From TMJ to Smile Design” is designed for general dental practitioners, dental specialists and dental technicians.
Joan Forrest, President and CEO of The Dawson Academy shared that, “Occlusion is THE most important factor in the long-term success of restorative dentistry, and this course is recognized worldwide for eliminating confusion about occlusion.”
“I have taken many advanced dental courses at several institutions around the world and this course by far had the most influence on me as a person, my team, my practice and my patients,” explained Dr. Tamer Iskander, who practices dentistry in Ontario, Canada. When asked what he would tell other dental professionals, Iskander said, “I don’t have the words to articulate how the Dawson experience will profoundly change you.”
The expansion to Canada is just one of five international expansions for The Academy in recent years.
“Being away from home and a practice, combined with the stresses of traveling today led us to decentralize in 2006 from teaching only in St. Petersburg, FL,” Forrest shared. “Our goal is to make it easier for dentists desiring to learn about occlusion, function and restorative dentistry to attend our classes.”
The Dawson Academy teaches in 6 states: California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, North Carolina and Virginia. They also teach in Japan, Poland, Spain, the United Kingdom and now Canada.
When discussing the expansion into different states and countries Forrest said, “The response has been tremendous. I can’t tell you how many dentists have thanked me for bringing the courses closer to them.”
