There’s Something Fishy in Customer Service in Dentistry

Whenever I teach Transformational Customer Service in Dentistry, I show a video called Fish!

Fish is about a fish market where the energy is so infectious, business people spend their lunch hour just watching the action and absorbing the energy.

The purpose of including this is to help you inspire those with whom you work to see that they have the power to create a more interesting, playful, profitable, and energetic workplace for themselves. The kind of place where you can feel positive and fulfilled by the way you do your work.

There are four basic concepts that form the foundation of the Fish! Philosophy:

  •  Play
  • Make Someone’s Day
  • Be There
  • Choose Your Attitude

You can’t tell someone how to have more fun and enthusiasm at work. Instead, we take them on a journey of “guided self-discovery” where they must participate and in doing so learn that they can make a difference. We examine obstacles and barriers to superior performance and determine how we could use the Fish! Principles in our place of work to:

  •  Increase Energy
  • Improve Morale
  • Keep A Positive Attitude
  • Reward Accountability
  • Enhance Creativity
  • Foster Innovation and Initiative
  • Build Team Spirit

Fish! won’t solve all your problems, but if it supported by the management team and developed by all employees it will certainly spark their imagination and cause them to realize that they can make a difference!

After all, if the workers at Pike Fish Market in Seattle can get excited about selling fish, and become world famous, just think of the exciting possibilities that exist in dentistry and how you can transform your patients’ experience in your office and their lives.
