Dental Groups, Key Stakeholders Reach Out to CDC Regarding COVID-19 Vaccine

The Organized Dentistry Coalition and other key health care stakeholders are asking the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to make it clear that dental personnel, autopsy personnel and laboratory personnel are included in the agency’s recommendation to give health care workers priority access to a COVID-19 vaccine.

Redfield, M.D, the organizations noted that the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practice recommended that the first round of COVID-19 vaccinations be offered to health care personnel and residents of long-term care facilities. They also observed that committee discussions suggested it intended for the definition of “health care personnel” to be broad and inclusive of all health care workers “who have the potential for direct or indirect exposure to patients or infectious materials.”
